A Ford prometeu e ela aí está: a nova geração do Bronco que há muito era esperada pelos indefetíveis deste modelo, que surge sob uma nova família com vários tipos de carroçaria para irem ao encontro de diferentes tipos de público-alvo.
O novo Bronco será uma forte aposta sobretudo nos EUA (onde já está disponível para encomenda, sendo que as primeiras entregas estão previstas para o final do ano), onde o mercado dos puros “off-roaders” continua a ser bastante lucrativo. Não há, para já, planos para a sua vinda para a Europa.
A sexta geração do Bronco é feita com base na plataforma da pick-up Ranger. E além da versão de duas portas conta com uma variante de carroçaria de quatro portas, a Bronco Sport. Existem vários elementos estéticos alusivos ao passado do jipe, sobretudo ao modelo da primeira geração.
Surge com a característica carroçaria quadrada, vãos curtos e carroçaria alargada. O modelo é produzido a partir de um chassis em aço dotado de um curso de suspensão 17% superior face à concorrência, segundo a Ford, e conta com pneus Goodyear Wrangler Territory LT de 35 polegadas. A altura ao solo é de 29,5 cm, tendo um ângulo de ataque de 29 graus, ângulo de saída de 37,2 graus e capacidade de passagem a vau de 85 cm.
A oferta de motores consiste no 2.3 Ecoboost de quatro cilindros turbo com 270 cv e no V6 2.7 Ecoboost de 310 cv, de série em associação com uma caixa manual de sete velocidades com redutoras ou opção de caixa automática de dez relações. Há também versões equipadas com o motor 1.5 e 2.0 Ecoboost, a primeira das quais com 184 CV e 257 Nm de binário e a segunda com 248 CV e 372 Nm de binário.
A suspensão dianteira independente é de série, com eixo rígido com molas e suspensão de cinco braços no eixo posterior. Entre as opções constam amortecedores Bilstein com curso maior e uma barra estabilizadores hidráulica semi-ativa (que possibilita maior articulação e um aumento do ângulo ventral.

Bronco two-door models come with a standard three-section roof system that is removeable quickly and easily with the first-row panels able to be stowed away on board. Both Bronco two- and four-door models offer the largest overall open-top view in its class to take in the sunshine or to gaze at the stars at night.
